This special production run is NOT AVAILABLE through Athearn dealers

As many modelers are aware, this run has been delayed for some time. They were actually finished and shipped to the distributor by Athearn. Unfortunately, according to the distributor, there appears to have been a problem with the packaging. The distributor has returned the entire run to Athearn. They are tentatively scheduled to be sent back from the distributor in April. We understand the frustration the delays with the project have caused.

Originally, the P42's delivered to VIA were a dark teal colour, Pantone 316. Unfortunately, this paint neither held up well to regular use, nor maintained the same colour. As a result, many P42's looked much worse for wear and colours varied, sometimes dramatically from one unit to another. As part of VIA Rail's solution to this problem, P42's are being painted with a blue replacing the original Pantone 316. VIA P42 908 & 920 have been repainted and now wear this scheme. As with the last custom run of P42 locomotives for VIA Rail, this limited run is almost sold out, so if you model VIA Rail, get your order in now. As this is a special run item, there will be a $75 deposit required at the time of order.
