Coming in N scale brass in 2008 will be the new Genset Switchers built by National Railway Equipment and operated currently by BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.  Norfolk Southern recently announced their intention to purchase two of the locomotives that are to the same design as the Union Pacific 3GS21B.

The classification 3GS21B stands for 3 Gensets/ 2100 horsepower/ B type truck

This new series of locomotives if part of the railroad industries ?Green? efforts.  The NRE 3GS21B uses only donor truck sideframes which are remanufactured, then all other parts of the locomotive are completely newly fabricated pieces.  As our country moves toward cleaner air and more fuel efficient vehicles these new switchers are sure to hold an important position in railyards all around the United States.

The N scale locomotives will be produced by the craftsmen of Ajin Precision Mfg. Find model images/ product numbers and delivery information below.

[If you are interested in adding one of these future models to your roster, it is extremely important that you place a reservation with Pacific Western Rail. Overland's future production quantities are now being very closely tailored to the reservations that they have received.]

NEW ANNOUNCEMENT
NRE 3GS21B GENSET SWITCHER PROJECT
BNSF - DEMONSTRATOR - NS - UP
HO-scale AND N-scale

Overland Models, Inc. Project Announcement

It is with great pleasure that I am now able to announce our new HO-scale AND N-scale ultra-low-emissions NRE 3GS21B GENSET Switcher projects.

For your information, 3GS21B stands for:
3GS - 3 Generator Set Modules
21 - 2100 Horsepower
B - 4-Axle Trucks

These projects could not have happened without the commitment and assistance that National
Railway Equipment [NRE], BNSF, and Union Pacific Railroad respresentatives have provided to
Overland Models every step of the way.

Speaking of Union Pacific, they have a very substantial and wide-ranging commitment to a GREEN
view of railroading. Click the UP Green Program to visit the UP site and to learn about their many
environmentally-conscious initiatives and successes.

In addition, click on Union Pacific's
Press Release for a quick review of the many benefits of
these leading-edge locomotives.

Given the major contributioons to a cleaner environment that these engines provide, I was
delighted that I could arrange to meet up with the working GENSET switcher to take the
picture that I now share with you in this e-mail and to take the hundreds of additional
pictures required to ensure that our models maintain their reputation as the most reliably
prototypical models that are available.

This project is very likely to be heavily over-reserved, so I urge you to reserve any of the models below that you and your customers would like as soon as possible.

You will note that there is no picture yet for the NS model. When the NS paint scheme and numbering decisions are announced, we will be right at the front of the line ready to transmit
that information to you.

We expect to deliver this project in early 2008, and given the production lead-times that
are required to meet that target, we will likely be closing the reservation book more quickly than we normally would.

I hope that you and your clients like this group of models as much as I do.
