These 40' box cars with single sliding doors are painted box car red with white oval ‘New York Central System’ logos and white lettering. They were built in February 1924, serviced in January 1953, and run on Bettendorf trucks. They’re typical of the thousands of box cars New York Central purchased or built in the 1920s. Surviving cars were painted in this oval paint scheme between 1944 and 1955.
