On Febuary 11, 1991, Union Pacific unveiled its tribute to the American Troops serving in the Persian Gulf. SD40-2 #3593 was repainted into Army camouflage in the North Little Rock, AR shop as a symbol of support for the Union Pacific employees who were on active duty during the Gulf War. Nicknamed ?Desert Victory? by railroaders, this unique unit toured the 19 state UP system carrying placards with the names and home towns of the 66 UP employees on active duty and the employee-reservists who were called to duty. The unit was returned to standard UP colors shortly after the 4th of July celebrations that year.
