4 Axle U.S. Style C-Liners

These previously announced U.S. Railroad 4 Axle C-Liners have been on the drawing boards a long time. But the time has come when production will take place and they will come down the track. At this will be a limited production run, modelers who are interested in these should order now, or miss the train.
Starting in 1950, Fairbanks-Morse began construction of a new model of diesel-electric locomotive. Utilizing much of what was learned in the prior model ("Erie Builts"), they continued to use their opposed piston prime movers developed over years of providing power for US Naval vessels.
 
The new "Consolidated Line" (known as 'C-Liners) were available in several variations. The classification system indicates the intended use, A- or B- unit, horsepower, and number of axles. The freight locomotives were a 4-axle B-B configuration, while most of the passenger units were an unusual B-A1A configuration with a 3 axle rear truck to distribute the weight of the steam generator.
