Walthers Announces Proto 1000 Newsprint Cars
Developed in the 60s by Canada's National Steel Car Company, NSC 50' Newsprint Box Cars were designed to haul huge rolls of paper produced by Canadian mills to printing houses across the continent. Features of these cars included a smooth interior and completely leakproof body to prevent damage to the paper rolls during transit. Beginning in 1967, almost 3,600 were built through 1971 and most are still in service today.
Walthers Announces Proto 2000 PS Covered Hoppers
Valued for its large capacity, roof trough hatches, and center discharge gates, the 4427 PS-2 CD High-Side Covered Hopper was a favorite for hauling grain. These large hoppers could be found across the continent hauling grain and other medium-density loads beginning in the 1960s, often in multi-car cuts or unit trains. Many are still seen in service during the fall harvest, 30 years after their construction.Available as single cars and 2-Packs
