New Bridge and Modern Single-Pole Block Signal (Dual Heads) from BLMA Models

Dear HO Customers, we were informed by BLMA Models today, the HO Scale Assembled Brass 150' Truss Bridges and the Modern Single-Pole Block Signals (with Dual Heads) will be in next week.

So........We here at Pacific Western Rail decided to come up with some unique sale promotions for those of you who model modern era trains. (see Sale details at the end of this page)

BLMA Bridge Flyer

The Block Signals are based on an extremely common design, this dual-head modern block signal can be seen throughout the country on numerous 'Class 1' railroads.

The Specific prototype images below are located in Fullerton, California, on the ultra-busy BNSF transcontinental mainline.  (Please note that this signal is not specific for BNSF.)

The Single Track Brass Truss Bridge is located on the Union Pacific mainline in Southern California, the prototype for this model dates back to 1938.  Spanning a narrow section of the Mojave River that runs above ground, the massive 150-foot long bridge is an important link in Union Pacific's LA&SL line that links Los Angeles, Salt Lake, and points further east.

Afton Canyon, home of this truss bridge, is located between Los Angeles and Las Vegas on the LA&SL line as mentioned above.  Near such railfan hot spots as Cajon Pass and Tehachapi Loop, Afton Canyon offers an unbelievable backdrop for Southern Californian rail fanning.  If you're planning a rail fanning trip in Southern California, don't miss this spot (be advised that train traffic is sporadic at best, and exploring the canyon requires 4 wheel drive, a full tank of gas, water, and at least a full morning or afternoon).

Modern Cantilever Signal Bridge (Assembled & Lighted!)

Prototype Information:

"Out with the old and in with the new!"  This statement is perfect when describing signal bridges on class one railroads.  At this point, older signal bridges are literally going out of style as they are torn down for modern, tube style bridges.

Unlike early bridges, today's giant, aluminum and steel structures are constructed of common parts, and thus, their appearance is nearly identical at any corner of the country.  Combining ease of assembly, utilization of common parts, and extremely easy accessibility for signal maintainers, all four of the current major railroads (BNSF, UP, NS, & CSX) as well as many smaller railroads have adopted this double-track, modern cantilever bridge as the standard for their mainlines.

Model Information:

This model is the only modern signal bridge produced in HO Scale, period.  Featuring four operating signal heads (a total of 12 separate, micro LED's!), super-fine detail, etched-metal components and 100% scale fidelity, this model is an asset to any modern HO Scale railroad!
