Hoppers have been around for much of railroading. Originally developed from gondolas, they offer ease of loading and unloading. Today, there are many types and sizes of open and covered hoppers carrying many different types of products and materials. These PS2-CD 4785 cu ft covered hoppers were produced in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Used in significant numbers by Penn Central, they went on to Conrail and some continued in service with CSX & Norfolk Southern well into the 2000's. They have also been operated by other railroads and private operators over the years in a variety of different schemes.

The first release of this new model includes three versions of the car with two undecorated kits. There are multiple schemes and road numbers to choose from.
