North American Railcar - Announces "MM" Scale - A Totally New Scale in Model railroading

Announcing A Totally New Model Scale

"MM"

North American Railcar is excited to introduce a totally new concept in model railroading.  It is called "MM" Scale (Micro Motion).  Just imagine you can build an enormous layout in a very small area.

I Know, you are thinking "how can I ever put the cars on the track, I have enough problems with putting cars on HO, N, Z or what ever scale".  Problem solved!  There is no conventional track as we know it today.  In this case, the motor is the track.

WHAT??  That's right, the motor "stator" is the track and the cars and engine are all rotors.  This system uses a "linear motor".

How a "linear motor" works.

We are all familliar with what an electric motor looks like.  Usually a round case with a shaft sticking out one or both ends connected to what ever is being driven.  But how about a "Linear Motor".  Let's look at a "Linear Motor" which is how "Micro Motion" works.

These are the four main components of an electric motor.

Rotor, Rotor Magnets, Stator, and Stator Coils

We still have the same four components of an electric motor.

Rotor, Rotor Magnets, Stator, and Stator Coils

Do you have any ideas?

The "Rotors" can be any size you want...

Have you ever heard of "MAG-LEV"?

Same principle!

-- No moving parts except your loco and cars going around the track. Here is an example of what a basic oval looks like using the primary components of Micro Motion.  Check out the size?  Yes, that is an American one cent coin.

Above is demonstration layout of a "Pico" train.

Start with the MM layout above which contains everything needed to build a layout of interest- minus figurines:- containing universal power supply, 4 - 180° turn tracks, 2 - straight tracks, 2- 90° turn tracks, track connectors, pylons, steam locomotive, 4 cars and Remote Control.  From there it is only your imagination that will stop you.  Additional track and moving stock (not rolling becaust it does not roll) will be available shortly, with more designs on the drawing board

Now that is really "Moooo-ving" things down the track!!

There is really no limit to what you can put on the tracks.  How about a light rail system or a bus running around town, airplains taxying around an airport?  There is no limit to what you can run on the tracks or how big a layout you want to build.
