Bowser HO MLW M630 Locomotives

We have just received our shipment of the Canadian Pacific and BC Rail MLW M360 Locomotives! We have a few extra we're putting on our shelves so if you want to order one of these models act fast because they won't last long!

By the late 1960s, ALCo was in bad shape with little market share left. The formerly dominant steam locomotive builder had seen it’s early success in the diesel era with the RS locomotive series dwindle as EMD and GE split the majority of the diesel market. The Century Series of locomotives was ALCo’s last attempt to turn the tide. The C-630 was powered by a ALCo 251 prime mover that produced 3000 horsepower. The locomotive had a C-C wheel arrangement of a pair of new high adhesion “Hi-Ad” trucks.

While the C-630 was a powerful locomotive with new features, it could not turn the tide with fewer than 80 units were built for United States railroads between 1965 & 1967. ALCo had little time left and closed U.S. operations in 1969.

However, in Canada, there were still ALCo inspired and adapted designs being built by Montreal Locomotive Works. These included the MLW M630, which was actually more of a reduced power C-636 than a true C-630. The MLW M630 saw limited success with about the same number produced as the ALCo version. One notable aspect of the M630 was the use of the Canadian "Safety Cab" on eight of the BC Rail units, making these M630W's.

This release includes a variety of schemes and road numbers to choose from, including many that were seen in the BC area. All are available in DCC Ready & DCC w/Sound versions.
