Cabooses were a important part of railroading for many years. They provided a work space for the conductor while the trains ran. And when the trains were stopped, they provided living space for the whole crew. In many cases, crews would have "their" caboose and would personalize it to their needs.
In 1961, Southern Pacific needed additional cabooses. PC&F built 200 C-40-4 bay window cabooses to meet this need. They served Southern Pacific well, 129 were rebuilt to 4000-series cabooses between 1973-75. These went on to serve until the caboose left mainline railroading in the mid 1980's.
This release includes six schemes with four road numbers for each.
