Rapido Announces Engines to Go With Their Earlier FA-2s and FPA-2s
The FB2 And FPB-2
The Most Requested B Unit in Rapido Trains History!
According to Rapido, Alco/MLW produced three FB-2 and FPB-2 units for every A unit. By the end of the 1950s, it was common to mix and match B units and A units on the same rail road, not keeping their matching road numbers always together. Some B units were used with FA-1s as well. Built in the years after World War II until 1959, most units lasted into the 1960s, some to the end of Alco/MLW cab unit operation. Canadian Pacific's fleet was officially retired in 1977. In other words, they had a long life, hard-working life from early diesel days right up to the very late diesel period.
As usual, Rapido is offering many road names, some of which are conditional providing enough orders for them warrant production. They are also offering a variety of detail, Phase 1a, Phase 1b, Phase II; Dynamic Brakes and No Dynamic Brakes; various types of trucks and distinctions in paint schemes within the same road name. Above is the detailed Canadian Pacific Version of the body showing the basic features and parts, and below is the underside of the model to clearly distinguish the features.
Of the 106 engines offered by Rapido, half with DCC and Sound and half DC/Silent, all the major roads and many beloved but smaller roads are represented. Now is the time to complete many train sets. Remember that several of these are conditional (those having an asterick {*} at the end of the short description) so spread the word among your friends and club members to ensure you get those you want.
Have fun!
