PWRS & NARC Statement Regarding Production Problems Affecting Several Other Manufacturers

Dear Pacific Western Rail and North American Rail Car Corporation Customers:

Many of you have heard that a major manufacturing company in China has unexpectedly closed its doors. Although the facts are sketchy at this time, it appears this shut down may significantly impact some of our suppliers. We hope to have more concrete information to share with you soon.

What we do know to be fact is that production of our NARC cars will not be affected because we have never used this particular company. In fact, we just received production samples from our factory in China of the new N scale potash cars which are being prepared for shipment to us. We'll be posting pictures of those cars shortly.

Five test samples of each of the new HO and N scale 5077 cubic foot boxcar have also arrived and are being inspected. When the paint schemes of these are approved, we will be sent the remainder of the 16 different schemes to check for accuracy. Once that is done, the go ahead for full production of these cars will be given. Watch for the posting on our website.

The way PWRS and you, our customer, may be affected by the closure of this factory's doors is delayed, or perhaps even cancelled, orders from our suppliers. Four of the companies we deal with have informed us us that they are NOT expecting to be affected and their production and delivery schedules will remain intact. They are Rapido, Walthers, Athearn and MicroTrains. We believe Kato will not be impacted either. The suppliers who have contacted us via email asking for patience while they work to renew production elsewhere are Fox Valley, Trainworx, Wheels of Time, InterMountain, Bowser and Atlas.

We are hopeful that our suppliers are able to establish a relationship with a new manufacturer soon so that they can continue providing service to model railroaders like they have for many years. And as we mentioned, we will keep you posted as we get more facts.

Sincerely,

Dan
