Solar System Series

Micro-Trains is excited to announce our newest series:  the Solar System Series! This N scale series will feature nine remarkable 60 ft boxcars featuring stunning and iconic imagery of our eight planets and sun.

Included on the side of the car is a profile of each planet’s main physical characteristics along with interesting facts and a diagram showing the order and relative size of each.

Each Solar System  Series car will be available with or without interior LED lighting, a feature that allows you to illuminate the planet’s image by use of a
telescope-shaped magnetic wand.

The Sun: Orbital Center

These 60 ft excess height box cars with modified sides are black with yellow sides and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. A giant sphere of super-heated plasma, our sun is constantly fusing hydrogen into helium. Making up 99% of all the mass in the solar system, the sun drives the seasons, weather, climate and is essential for life on Earth.

Mercury-The Swift Planet

These 60’ excess height box cars with modified sides are black with grey sides and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and is tiny, only slightly larger than Earth’s moon. With no true atmosphere, the cratered surface can reach 806° Fahrenheit during the day and -290° at night.

These 60’ excess height box cars with modified sides are black with brown sides and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Venus is the second planet from the Sun and similar in size to Earth. Venus has a very dense and acidic CO2 atmosphere driving a powerful greenhouse effect. The daytime temperature can reach over 900°F.

Jupiter - Un-Lit Version:

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in our Solar System. A gas giant, it is composed of hydrogen and helium. If it was larger and had reached the density for nuclear fusion, it would be a second sun.
