Atlas HO Trainman® AAR 70 Ton 3-Bay Open Hopper
with Arched Ends!
This familiar hopper was an industry standard on many railroads since the 1930Â’s. It was adopted by the AAR as a recommended design, but fell out of favor by the mid-1950s. While offering greater capacity over cars with conventional flat sides, the original open hoppers created corrosive interaction between acidic coal and the carÂ’s joints, leading to costly rebuilding programs.
Standard MSRP: $12.95
Undecorated MSRP: $9.95
Estimated Delivery: April 2008
Features:
AccuMate® couplers are made under license from AccuRail, Inc.
Note: Items below with the letter "A" are considered the initial series of road numbers. Subsequent releases of a road name with a new road number will be indicated with a "B" or successive letters. This letter can be found in the bottom right hand corner of the label of each Trainman™ product.

Atlas HO Middlesex Manufacturing Company
AtlasÂ’ newest Master Line structure is the HO Scale Middlesex Manufacturing Company. Its design is based on a well-known landmark in New Jersey that was built in 1883 and continued operations until well into the 1990s. Railroad tracks originally built by the Pennsylvania Railroad lie adjacent to the building. These tracks were used to transport raw materials in via train to be processed by its some 350+ workers, which were then again shipped by rail in their finished forms to their destinations.
Based on the original four-story brick building, the Middlesex Manufacturing Company features eight chimneys, a loading dock, elevator tower and entry stairway. On the track-facing side are several loading doors for boxcars to load and unload their freight through. Optional window blanks to brick out the windows and window vents will be included with the model.
Currently, the building site is being used for condominiums, making this model a fine tribute to the now demolished historical edifice. A March 2008 delivery is expected for the first shipment.
