One of EMD's most popular diesels, over 1100 were built between 1939 and 1949, serving over 50 railroads with some still working today. Based on phase five units built in 1949, features include:

PLEASE NOTE: When operating Walthers-branded DCC-equipped locomotives in DC mode, do not use power packs that exceed an 18V rating. This includes MRC 1300-series power packs which have known issues with our decoders.

 
 
Alternate horns and bell sounds can be programmed on the sound decoder using these CVs:

• Horns: CV163 = Leslie A-200
• CV163 = Wabco Single Chime
• CV163 = Nathan M3
• CV163 = Leslie S3L
• Bells: CV164 = Bronze Bell (default)
• CV164 = Steel Bell
