Dear HO Scale Customers, The Bachmann HO Scale GP40 series continues to grow with two new examples joining the line in this release. The Western Maryland model comes ready to run in the head-turning "Circus" scheme, which was adopted by the mid-Atlantic operator in 1969, while the latest Norfolk Southern addition features a promotional livery for Operation Lifesaver, as found on several examples in service today.

Western Maryland #3795
The GP40 was considered the top of EMD’S four-axle line when first introduced in the late 1960s. It visually differed from earlier GP models, featuring three radiator fans on its long hood, but was otherwise similar in style to the GP38, which entered production around the same time. The locomotive was popular for its ease of maintenance and standardized features and remained in production until succeeded by the GP40-2 in the early 1970s. Today, many remain in service hauling local freights and performing yard duties. The Bachmann HO Scale GP40 features realistic, prototypical detail, fine-scale handrails, and comes with a factory-installed 8-pin DCC plug for the decoder of your choice.
