● TGV Lyria Euroduplex is a high-speed train operating between Paris and Switzerland. In order to increase passenger capacity, the train started operation in December of 2019 as a double-decker (duplex) by replacing the conventional single-decker train cars. The outside of the train features the newly designed logo (in use since 2016) and arrow design motif using the traditional red color, giving it the impression of speed and dynamic movement. Furthermore, the main destinations of France and Switzerland are represented on the exterior.

◆ The international train TGV Lyria Euroduplex, whose origin lies in the former TEE (Trans-Europ-Express) Cisalpin and Ligne de Coeur, will now be introduced as part of KATO's "High-speed trains of the world" series.

◆ Features of the product

① In vivid red as its basic color, KATO will reproduce the new "Lyria", which evolved into a double-decker Euroduplex to enhance passenger capacity.

② The body for the locomotives at both ends of the train includes the closed dent beneath the windshield and the added antenna.

③ Pantographs for AC and DC are made differently from each other (The placement and shape are partly different from the prototype).

④ Names of cities served are painted on the sides of the cars and logos are beautifully represented.

⑤ The seats in all passenger cars are ivory in color.

⑥ Power unit uses a flywheel assisted motor for smooth operation.

⑦ Head lights/tail lights light up with bulb color LEDs.

⑧ A Prototypical 20-car train formation can be run by removing the coupler cover from the tip of the locomotive and using the drawbar supplied.

⑨ DCC compatible. (The M1 and M2 end cars are fitted with a 6 pin socket. However, the CV29 value of decoders equipped onto M2 must be changed otherwise the head and tail lights will be reversed.)

● The Series 300 was developed to operate as a 270 km/h Shinkansen bullet train and debuted in 1992. It employed a lightweight aluminum body and a body shape for superior aerodynamic performance. Moreover, it adopted new technology for the Shinkansen to use for the first time, such as bolsterless trucks, VVVF inverter control and regenerative braking. It served as an express train "Nozomi“ (hope) by connecting Tokyo and Shin-Osaka in 2.5h.

◆ Kato makes "Series 300 Shinkansen“, well known as the very first Nozomi, for the first time! Enjoy the last stage form where the pantographs are reduced from 3 to 2 pieces and replaced by single-armed pantographs.
