Exotics From OBI. Announcing Cabooses in Brown Boveri, Mammoet, Beltway of Chicago, MRL & Cotton Be

BBC Brown Boveri Electric

The American operation of Swiss-based Brown Boveri Limited was called Brown Boveri Electric Company, incorporated as a U.S. company. In 1984, the U.S. company name was changed to BBC Brown Boveri Inc.
Shortened to ABB Inc. (ASEA Brown Boveri), in recent years, the American operation continues the strong engineering and innovation that was a tradition of the ITE Circuit Breaker Company.

ABB is supplying a network management solution that will monitor and control 134 renewable energy facilities that provide states and provinces across Canada and the United States with clean, emission-free power. Harold

Mammoet is a privately-held Dutch company specializing in the hoisting and transporting of heavy objects. It was founded in 1973, specialised in heavy transport over water and roads. In 2001 it was taken over by Van Seumeren transport. The name Mammoet became the name for the new company. The daughter company Mammoet Shipping was sold to Spliethoff and was renamed in BigLift Shipping. It raised the Russian submarine Kursk. The company is experienced in the offshore, petrichemical, and construction industries, the latter of which includes rapid bridge replacementusing Self Propelled Modular Transporter vehicles. Mammoet headquarters in Schiedam is located in a distinctive office building named De Bolder (= "The Bollard"). The building was fabricated in a factory and later shipped to the current location. This helped to save time and money.  Have fun with these, Harold

Back to North America, the Montana Rail Link is one of the most colorful Railroads.  The 4 versions here provide you an opportunity to step back in time when the Caboose was the Control Nerve Center of the consist.

Then there are the Cotton Belt and the Belt Railway of Chicago which provide a contrast to the exotic cabooses above.

The Belt Railway of Chicago Caboose comes with a Solar Panel on its roof which is unique for the date and time when this caboose was running on the railhead.  See the descriptions below for interesting details,  Harold

In the "Extended Vision" or "Wide Vision" caboose, the sides of the cupola project beyond the side of the carbody. Rock Island created some of these by rebuilding some standard cupola cabooses with windowed extensions applied to the sides of the cupola itself, but by far the greatest number have the entire cupola compartment enlarged. This model was introduced by the International Car Company and saw service on most U.S. railroads. The expanded cupola allowed the crew to see past the top of the taller cars that began to appear after World War II  and also increased the roominess of the cupola area.

Order now to influence the selection of Cabooses which are manufactured  ....
