Kato (Japan) has announced the February 2023 Releases
KIHA 81 made the debut as the first group of the first diesel limited express series KIHA 81 drawing “Limited Express Hatsukari” in the unique form with front engine and pulled later various limited expresses at the top.
KIHA 82-900 emerged by converting the top car of the first version of KIRO 80 in 1968 and later. It is featured window layout it had when it was used as a 1st class (green) car. After it was operated as limited express “Inaho”, “Tsubasa” and “Hitachi”, it was transferred to Hokkaido and ran as “Okhotsk” and “Hokuto”.
Both of them contributed much to the modernization of passenger train transport by building up the network of JR limited expresses.

Features
● Series Kiha 82
Faithfully modeled in the mid-1960s when it was in its heyday.
・The Kiha 82 is equipped with head/tail lights as standard equipment (with a light-off switch). Light bulb color is used for the headlights, and white LEDs are used for the train mark lighting. Train marks and lights are realistically reproduced.
- Kiha 80 power car adopts a power unit that has a good reputation in HO gauge Kiha 58. Smooth and powerful running is possible.
- Faithfully reproduces the beautiful proportions including the front shape of the Kiha 82 series.
- Beautifully reproduces the paint color of the 82 series railcar, which is painted separately into red No. 2 and cream No. 4.
・Employs blue colored window glass to imitate heat-absorbing glass
・Kiha 82 modeled as a prototype of the late model with an additional cooler from the time of manufacture
・Kilo 80's engine-colored seat and green car notation are beautiful reproduction.
・DCC NMRA 8-pin plug compatible (motor control only)
・Equipped with KATO coupler close contact self-connection type (PAT.) that reproduces the shape of the actual vehicle's coupler and enables the coupling function and smooth curve passage scene.
- You can select your favorite number and notation on the detailed lettering sheet for the body number and notation.
- Destination display sticker included.
・Kiha 82 series 4-car basic set and Kiha 82 single item come with interchangeable train marks. (Ohzora, Shiratori, Kamome, Matsukaze)
● Kiha 81
You can choose to have the coupler cover on the front or not, and the joban radio antenna on the roof, so you can reproduce different appearances depending on the season.
・The front coupler cover can be attached/removed as desired. The coupler on the front uses a dummy coupler.
- The joban radio antenna has separate parts for piping and pedestal. It is possible to select the roof circumference of Kiha 81 that varies depending on the season.
- Reproduced with a tablet catcher.
- Uses DT31 trolley.
・The attached head marks include "Hatsukari", "Tsubasa", "Inaho", "Hitachi", "Kuroshio", and "(plain)".

- Accurately reproduces the window arrangement and cooler arrangement unique to modified cars.
- Reproduced with a tablet catcher.
