Update:
Dear HO Customers:
We talked to Walthers and suggested it might be helpful if customers knwo which passenger cars would be applicable for which time period. We received additional info this morning tht should be helpful deciding which cars to run together.
Walthers have had some of their staff that are knowledgeable give this additional information:
Looking at the Utah Rails site, it appears the UPP reporting mark was first used in 1989.
Virtually all of the cars have had multiple names and numbers applied over time - consists were/are drawn from the pool as needed for each trip.
This is probably the most comprehensive list of what was used when on each specific car - https://utahrails.net/pass/pass-heritage-fleet-1.php#upp101
&
"The UPP reporting mark was first used in April 1986, when Business Car 100 was renumbered to Business car UPP 119, and Arden had its first number applied, as UPP 100. Other early uses were in July 1987 on much of the steam program equipment. The UPP reporting mark was officially registered with AAR in January 1994."
Hopefully the attachment will offer more information so customers can make a decision on what they want their personal consist to look like.
Dear HO Scale Customers; Walthers Proto has announced new UP Heritage Series Passenger Cars. Check them out!
We talked to Walthers on Friday and suggested they give us examples of how you might want to consist these cars.
There are so many possibilites, but Walthers gave us 2 examples below. We will try to get you some more samples of consists from different era's next week.
If any of our customers have information regarding consists using the heritage passenger fleet please feel free to send to us, and we will publish an update here.
Walthers is going to try and get us additional consists next week.
There's no fixed consist, the trains are drawn from the pool based on what's needed for a specific purpose and are seldom the same.Probably one of the better documented runs for the UP Heritage Fleet (and apparently one of the few with any documentation) was the G.W. Bush Funeral Train, but it also includes a couple of cars Walthers don't offer:

85' Budd 10-6 Sleeper "Cabarton"
A key part of Union Pacific's public relations programs, 48 historic passenger cars and three E9 diesels make up part of the famed Heritage Fleet. Many were originally purchased for the City Streamliners, and have been carefully restored and updated to full operating condition. Today, they're finished in a modern Armour Yellow scheme, and the cars carry names of important cities, famous trains and key people in the railroad's long history. In service, these rolling goodwill ambassadors travel system-wide and beyond, behind UP's restored steam and diesel locos, to attend a wide range of public and special events every year.'
