Kato (Japan) has announced the June 2024 Releases

Ge 4/4-II #620 “RhB Club” Electric Locomotive

● Item Introduction

From the Ge4/4-II locomotive, which plays a key role in the Rhaetische Bahn, the is making its debut. These locomotives are essential to the landscape of this railway due to their versatility in hauling everything from the Glacier Express to freight trains, along with their wide range of paint schemes and liveries, making them popular among passengers.

◆ Kato (Japan) will be producing a new livery, , for the Rhaetian Railway series of electric locomotives. "

 

◆ Product features

• Kato (Japan) will be producing the appearance of the second production batch from 1984, wearing the standard livery of the Rhaetische Bahn, with added square headlights and jumper plugs on the front.

• Reproduces various details such as louvers for air intake on the roof, resistors, and large snow plows.

• Includes optional jumper hoses for the front of the car, that can be installed by the user..

• It is capable of towing 12 passenger cars of the Rhb on a 4% gradient

• Short couplers for the Glacier Express are standard equipment. Exchangeable Arnold couplers included.

• All three headlights are lit(light bulb color).

• Minimum turning radius: R150

• DCC compatibility can be achieved by replacing the light boar

DD51 Late Stage Diesel Locomotive (for Warm Regions)

● Item Introduction

The DD51 diesel locomotive, manufactured since 1962, stands as a quintessential symbol of the Japanese National Railways (JNR), having traversed the entire nation except for Shikoku. The DD51 engines that operated in the San’in region boasted a distinctive style, equipped with snowplows and known as the B cold weather specification. They served diverse purposes, from ordinary and freight trains composed of traditional cars to sleeper express trains like the "Izumo".

◆ It remains an indispensable locomotive for both passenger and freight trains along the San‘in Main Line. Additionally, it’s highly recommended as the prime mover for the simultaneous release of the 10-1914 EXPRESS "SAMBE" (5 Cars)..

 

◆ Product Features

• The front windows are equipped with wipers and replicate the appearance of the B cold weather specification, complete with a snowplow and whistle cover.

• Headlights are operational (bulb color LEDs).

• Comes with Arnold couplers as standard, along with exchangeable knuckle couplers.

• Reproduces the block-style number plate. You can choose from numbers: "1133", "1170", "1172", "1181".

Taiwan Railways EMU3000 Sets

● Item Introduction

The EMU3000 stands as Taiwan Railways Administration's (TRA) newest flagship express train. With plans to introduce 600 units in total, it commenced operations at the end of 2021, replacing older train models like the "Tze-Chiang" express trains (akin to Japan's express trains) and the "Chu-Kuang" passenger trains (similar to Japan's limited express trains). It also serves as a replacement for diesel cars on the electrified South-Link Line. Since 2019, TRA has been refreshing stations and rolling stock under the concept of "TRA Aesthetic Renaissance (FUTURE—RENAISSANCE)". Following this ethos, the EMU3000 boasts a modern design with a simple monochrome theme complemented by accent colors above the doors. Designed to enhance transportation capacity, the train formation comprises twelve 20-meter-long cars, including a business class car (referred to as "Teng Yun Class"), akin to Japan's Green Car, linked to the sixth car.

◆ Together with Taiwan High Speed Rail 700T, the EMU3000 offers a picturesque view of Taiwan's railway landscape. We aim to faithfully reproduce its sleek, black-and-white design and various markings."

◆ Product Features

• Accurately captures the roof with distinctive pantographs and linear equipment arrangements typical of AC electric trains.

• Each formation, adorned with accent colors red and green, is faithfully represented.

• Head/tail lights illuminate (using white LEDs), accurately depicting fully lit headlights.

• Utilizes a slotless motor for smoother and quieter operation.

• Equipped with body-mounted KATO couplers (with hooks) at all coupling points.

• The book-case can neatly store the contents of the basic set and expansion sets in sequential order from car No. 1 to car No. 12.

Express "SAMBE" (5 Passenger Cars)

● Item Introduction

The overnight express trains "Sanbe," "Kaimon," and "Nichi-nan" were iconic during the 1970s, operating in Kyushu and Sanin. These trains featured a distinctive composition of 20 series sleeping cars, 12 series express cars, and mail/baggage cars. The 20 series sleeping cars were modified to accommodate power sources for coupling with the 12 series, designated as the 1000 and 2000 series.

◆ Combining these with the reissued 10-1550, 5302, and 5304 12 series express cars allows for a complete formation. Particularly with "Nichi-nan," various configurations of the 12 series are available, providing options to suit your preferences. For traction, 7008-N DD51 Late Stage (for warm regions) is recommended for the "Sanbe" express, while the 3013-4 ED76 0 Late Stage is recommended for the "Kaimon" and "Nichi-nan" expresses."

 

◆ Product Features

• You can recreate a full formation similar to the actual train by combining it with the 10-1550 Series 12 Express Passenger Car (JNR) 6-Car Set or various individual items.

• The back sign of Nahane 22 is equipped with an "Express" signage. The set of "Kaimon" and "Nichi-nan" expresses includes replacement "Kaimon" and "Nichi-nan" (illustration) back signs.

• The Nahane 22 features illuminated tail lights/back signs. The Suyuni 50, Mani 50, and Oyu 14 have illuminated tail lights (with an off switch).

• Each product includes destination display stickers for the 12 series, lettering sheets for changing car numbers/affiliation markings, and front couplers for coupling series 12 cars (previous page).

• The Bookcase for the "Kaimon" and "Nichi-nan" expresses can store up to seven passenger cars and one locomotive.

KOKI 105 "Toyota Longpass Express" (Eco Liner) 10-Car Set

● Item Introduction

The actual train has been running since 2006, transporting parts for Toyota. It consists of around 20 cars, each carrying 31ft blue containers on Koki 105 flatcars. Initially, the containers had "TOYOTA" written on their sides, but now they mainly feature the "BIG ECO LINER" logo and the logo of the owning company, Nippon Express. Since 2022, there have been further changes to the containers' appearance to reflect Nippon Express's new logo.

◆ The popular container train "Toyota Long Pass Express," known for its bright blue color and cohesive formation, is now available as a set and as individual containers. This set is recommended for pairing with the simultaneously released EF210 100 series locomotive.

① Koki 105 "Toyota Long Pass Express" (Eco Liner)

• Reproduces a formation with mixed U54A and U55A containers.

• The container freight cars consist of newly manufactured 2-car units of the KOKI 105 type.

• Intricately replicates the frame shape where details like pipes are visible due to the open floor.

② U55A Container (Eco Liner)

• Newly produced large 31ft wing container U55A in "Eco Liner" specification.

• Reproduces the color difference (gray) on the top center part of the container.

• Replicates the band colors and patterns at the top edges of the sides and ends.
