Broadway Limited Imports is excited to announce the New Track Inspection Theater Passenger Cars
Experience a piece of railroad history with Broadway Limited Imports highly detailed model of Union Pacific’s Fox River, meticulously crafted to capture this iconic car’s legacy. Originally built in 1954 by Pullman-Standard for the Canadian National Railway as a sleeper, the Fox River’s story spans multiple eras and railroads, making it a standout member of Union Pacific’s heritage fleet today.
After serving as a sleeper on Canadian National and later VIA Rail Canada until 1984, the Fox River found a new role when Milwaukee Rail Car transformed it into a theater-inspection car for the Chicago and North Western Railway (C&NW). In 1985, the car was purchased by C&NW, renumbered as 420, and named "Fox River" after the beloved river central to C&NW’s Wisconsin territory.
Following the 1995 Union Pacific-C&NW merger, the Fox River joined Union Pacific’s roster, receiving a comprehensive renovation in 1997 and a fresh paint update in 2006, complete with a distinguishing white stripe along its roof. The car is often seen as the final addition to Union Pacific’s classic yellow passenger car train, embodying the grandeur of American rail travel.
In their debut model release, Broadway Limited Imports faithfully recreate the Fox River as it appeared under both Union Pacific and C&NW service. Each unit is equipped with individually controllable lighting, including operational ditch lights, marker lights, spotlights, and interior lighting, offering an authentic, lifelike display. This model honors the Fox River’s storied history, making it a perfect addition for collectors and rail enthusiasts alike.
