The Ge6/6-I, affectionately known as the “Rhaetian Crocodile,” is a six-axle, rod-driven box-style electric locomotive that made its debut in 1921 with the electrification of the iconic Albula Line. For decades, it faithfully hauled both freight and passenger trains, and remarkably, more than 100 years later, two units are still preserved in full working order. These legendary locomotives aren’t just for show—they regularly operate on seasonal and event services, often running alongside historic passenger coaches and open-air panorama cars, proving their legacy is very much alive!

◆ Over 100 years since its debut, the beloved and historic electric locomotive “Rhaetian Crocodile” Ge6/6-I—still hugely popular on the Rhaetian Railway—is finally making its debut in N scale! KATO faithfully recreates its compact yet mechanically intricate design using their latest technology. Look forward to pairing it with the scheduled August 2025 releases like the 3101-7 Alps Locomotive Ge4/4-III 643 and the 10-2026/2027 Glacier Express of the Alps for an even more immersive experience!

① Features the unique rod-driven undercarriage, the bonnet sections that swivel along with the bogies, and the asymmetrical window and louver layout on each side of the body.

Couplers: short couplers compatible with the Glacier Express, Arnold couplers also included for optional use.

Details:

• Printed on detailing of the special “100th Anniversary” commemorative plate mounted on one of No. 414’s crew doors.
• Includes separately molded parts for the distinctive yellow handrails located next to the cab doors.
• Accurately recreates the large, uniquely shaped pantograph.

• Lights: three front-mounted headlights lit (warm LEDs), includes silver trim around the left and right headlamps

EWI 5-Car Set

● Item Introduction

The Ge6/6-I is a six-axle, rod-driven, boxcab electric locomotive introduced in 1921 along with the electrification of the Albula Line. Commonly known as the "Rhaetian Crocodile," two units are still operating today and remain in working condition.

During its service in the 1980s, it was frequently seen hauling green EW I passenger coaches, baggage cars, and freight wagons loaded with logs.

◆ A special set inspired by the era of the “Rhaetian Crocodile” Ge6/6-I—a historic electric locomotive that debuted over 100 years ago and remains a beloved icon of the Rhaetian Railway—is now available!

The set includes a locomotive, baggage car, and passenger car, accurately recreating the classic formation. It can also be combined with the concurrently released 〈3103-1 Ge6/6-I "Rhaetian Crocodile"〉.

◆ Product Features

Ge6/6-I Rhaetian Crocodile

① Differing from the standalone release, this set features locomotive No. 415 with unique numbering and markings, packaged together with a baggage car and passenger car.

② Accurately reproduces the locomotive’s distinctive rod-driven running gear, the bonnet section that swivels along with the bogies, and the asymmetrical body with windows and louver placements that vary greatly between the left and right sides.

Couplers: Comes with pre-installed Glacier Express short couplers. Replaceable Arnold couplers are also included.

Details:

• The yellow handrails on the side of the crew room door have been recreated as separate installable parts.
• The headlights are lit (warm-white LEDs). The 3 lights on the lead section are lit, the light in the middle of the front window is not lit. The left and right headlights have a silver rim.
• Accurately replicates the large, uniquely shaped pantograph.

• Reproduces the green-painted exterior design from earlier years, from before the pantograph was installed and when part of the window was still covered.
• Equipped with Glacier Express short couplers. Replaceable Arnold couplers are also included.

● Passenger Car

• Reproduces the appearance of the EW I coaches used on mainline services, with longer bogies and painted in green as they were before refurbishment.
• The first-class coach accurately recreates the configuration from before refurbishment, with toilets located at both ends on the left side.
• The second-class coach also replicates the pre-refurbishment design, featuring a toilet at the right end of the car.
• All cars are equipped with Glacier Express short couplers.
• Compatible with LED interior lighting sets (clear) that are available to buy separately.
