Blackstone Models Announces Limited Quantity 3 Packs of D&RGW High Side Gondolas

Between 1898 and 1906, the Denver & Rio Grande Western purchased approximately 1300 narrow gauge gondolas from American Car and Foundry. These cars replaced an array of well-used and worn out gondolas and became the mainstay of the railroad's gondola fleet toward the end of operations. In addition to coal, these cars often handled limestone, precious minerals, pipe, maintenance equipment and an array of other commodities as the need arose.
Blackstone Models High Side Gondolas represent these cars after the early 1920's rebuild and are equipped with the cast "economy" draft gear design, varying paint shades and unique detailing in both weathered and non-weathered versions.
As with all of our HOn3 freight cars, we have used a combination of plastic and die-cast parts to create a weighted and balanced car that will run smoothly along with the rest of our Blackstone Models freight cars.
Since the Blackstone Models High Side Gondolas feature varying side stake/splice variation, we've been able to offer the various road numbers in unprecedented detail - more faithful to the prototypes than ever before!
There are two 1000 Series High Side Gondola numbers featuring the D&RGW Flying Grande livery (Nos. 1012, 1039) in the non-weathered Multi-Pack. The No. 1012 and 1039 have a 'freshly shopped' paint scheme. The No.1232 is decorated in the 'more sun-faded' paint scheme and sports a Royal Gorge Route herald.
