Important: North American Railcar Corporation HO Scale Wide Tread Wheelset Availability

As many of our customers are aware, our standard High Performance Low Friction HO Scale wheelsets are very fine scale and nearly prototypical in dimensions, with superior performance.

These wheelsets are made exclusively for us and fit only our trucks and side frames. With periodic North American Railcar Corporation product releases, we also produce a limited number of wider tread, less prototypically accurate wheelsets, generally referred to as "RP-25 Wheel Sets".

Due to the highly accurate nature of our standard width wheelsets, there are a small number of customers who have experienced difficulties with slippage (derailing) on switches or curves. This issue is very rare and is most commonly reported by customers using heavy code track, such as Atlas Code 100.

We made our Standard wheels with more prototypically correct wheel width so that are cars would be more accurate.

The Atlas Turnouts have small groves cut near the frog points, and our narrow width wheel sets can derail, due to the nature of the way the Atlas Turnouts are made. This problem does not occur with higher quality Walthers, Peco, Micro Engineering and Kato Turnouts.

Customers who have experienced any issues with our standard wheelsets on any of our previous releases and who have not replaced the wheelsets are encouraged to order these replacement wider RP-25 wheelsets to address the issue. Customers who use this type of track and have future release products on order are also encouraged to order these RP-25 wheelsets.

These RP-25 wheelsets are only made at the time we have cars produced. And we are about to produce more HO Scale Cars.

Final pricing on the wheelsets has not been set yet as we need to total the orders first. However, the price will be strictly to cover their cost and is expected to be approximately $2 per package.

Each package will replace the wheels of any NAR Corp HO Scale car.

So, if you need some of the RP-25 wheelsets now, or in the future, please order them now.
