The Bi-Level "Gallery" commuter car design developed by Pullman-Standard in the 1950's continues to be the preferred car type of many commuter rail services in the United States and Canada. Originally used by Chicago area commuter services, this design, or other Bi-Level car designs have proved very successful over the years.
