Canadian National - LNG Locomotives in Edmonton & The Great Edmonton Train Show

Hi boys and girls I'm back!

Yup, Dad sprung me from the institution of higher learning I have been attending to go to the Edmonton Train show last weekend.  On Friday afternoon Dad and I and two members from our board of directors did a little rail fanning.  WOW! We hit the jack pot.

These two locos are joined by an over sized tank car filled with Liquefied Natural Gas.  We are not sure if the LNG comes from the oil industry or the cattle industry (after all it is methane).  I think this is a great idea to help clean up our atmosphere.  Here are more photos.

The Edmonton Train Show was fantastic.  A very large crowd of people turned out despite the unbelievable weather with temperatures in the mid 70's and bright sunny skies.  That sure blew the myth that people don't go to train shows when it is nice outside.

The Canadian built 4000CuFt rotary gondolas introoduced by North American Railcar was the high light of the show.  Just imagine a gondola that you can tilt 80 degrees from vertical and let go and it will right itself every time.  Yup! that means you can now back up a 100 car train of empties and not worry about derailing.  NO BODY ELSE can do that.

Dad put on a great clinic on manufacturing (and its myths) although he did have a little trouble controlling the other guy in the white shirt who talks a lot.  If you haven't seen this clinic you aught to go again.  Looking forward to a clinic at the Burnaby B.C. show in November.

You gota hand it to those Edmonton guys, they know how to put on a show.  Everything went real smoothly.  Although they don't know where next years show will be as the wrecking ball will be having it's way with the Mayfield Trade Centre (at least that is the rumor).  Maybe they can get a little rivalry going between CN & CP.  CP helps sponsor the Calgary train show and with some help from CN they could get a really great location?

Thanks guys.

Back to school now!  (you know- the one for the criminally insane)

P.S.  Rumor has it that my little sister may be joining the folks at PWRS.  She is a real beauty.  Look for her in the future.
