Kato announced today that they will re-issue some favorite road names and models with new road numbers:

N Scale EMD SD70MAC

N Scale EMD SD80MAC CR

N Scale SD90/43MAC UP and

These items are a re-release of our popular N scale SD80MAC Conrail and SD90/43MAC UP locomotive, and includes our Bright-white™ LED headlight, high mount brake cylinders, MU hose detail and our magnetic knuckle coupler. Both locomotives have NEW road numbers and the mechanism is DCC friendly for a drop-in installation.

We will be receiving a first set of road numbers in Mid September, with a second set arriving at a future date.

N Scale EMD SD40 UP and ATSF

These items are a re-release of our popular N scale SD40 UP and ATSF locomotive, and includes our Bright-white™ LED headlight, high mount brake cylinders, MU hose detail and our magnetic knuckle coupler.

Prototype Information

Powered by EMD’s 16 cylinder, 3000hp engine, the SD40 provided more pulling power than its SD38 predecessor at the cost of greater complexity and maintenance requirements with its turbocharged engine. Stylistically, the SD40 locomotives sported three 48 inch radiator fans at the rear of the long hood and a straight radiator section, unlike the flared radiator of the SD45.
