Metrolink & Rail Runner
These locomotives were announced several years ago. There release had been delayed and TureLine Trains had announced that the first run were sold out. As a result, some customers were not able to order these.
As a result of the closure of a distributor, TrueLine Trains has informed us that they again have limited supplies of these locomotive available for immediate order. Supplies are very limited, and are on a first order, first served basis. So, if you previously were unable to order any of the TrueLine Trains MP36PH-3C Locomotives, don't miss the train this time around.
TrueLine Trains first release of the MP36PH-3C MPXpress Locomotives includes road numbers for Metrolink and Railrunner. Each road number is available in both DC and DCC w/ESU Loksound.
These locomotives are some of the most beautiful Diesel Commuters running today. These are the first locomotives TrueLine Trains has designed specifically for the US Market. Each drawing and paint reference was supplied by Motive Power / Wabtec and they have OK'ed the project every step of the way.

Rail Runner
The New Mexico Rail Runner Express (NMRX) is a commuter rail system serving the metropolitan areas of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is administered by the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the Mid Region Council of Governments (MRCOG), a regional government planning association, while Herzog currently holds the contract for operation and maintnence of the line & equipment.
Metrolink
Metrolink (reporting mark SCAX) is a commuter rail system serving Los Angeles and the surrounding area of Southern California. The system operates in Los Angeles County, San Diego County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County and Ventura County. It connects with the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system, the San Diego Coaster & Sprinter commuter rail services, and with Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner, Coast Starlight, Southwest Chief & Sunset Limited intercity rail services.
The system, founded in 1991 as the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA) and quickly adopting "Metrolink" as the marketing and user friendly moniker, started operation in 1992.
Prototype History
Although it is unmistakably different than anything else on the outside, the MPXpress is based on MPI's experience producing both new and remanufactured commuter locomotives for many commuter agencies across North America. Even though it is marketed as a new locomotive, it is available with a host of remanufactured components to help lower costs.
There have been three major variations built of the MPXpress: The MP36PH-3S, the MP36PH-3C and the MP40PH-3C.
The MP36PH-3C has been the most popular version of the locomotive built. It is powered by the same 3600 horsepower motor as the MP36PH-3S, but uses a small separate diesel engine to provide Head End Power.
The MP40PH-3C is the newest version of the product line. It is outwardly nearly identical to the MP36PH-3C, but is instead powered by a 4000 horsepower 16V-710GB motor provided by Electro Motive Diesels Inc. EMDI also provided all of the electrical systems and computer equipment necessary to run the locomotives.
The MPXpress line of locomotives were the first production passenger locomotives to meet EPA Tier 1 and Tier 2 emissions regulations, as well as FRA safety regulations regarding crashworthiness and fire safety. The line also meets APTA crashworthiness standards.
