The end of the bottom motor clip contacts with the chassis. In DC mode there is no issue, however the locomotive will not operate in DCC mode (when an aftermarket DCC decoder is installed).

If only DC operation is desired, no change is required. For consumers that choose to install a DCC decoder, a product bulletin has been prepared that details how to correct the issue.  If customers have questions, please direct them to the product bulletin, which can be found at http://www.athearn.com/ProdInfo/Files/Athearn-GP60M-DCC-Bulletin.pdf.  Additionally, customers can reach Athearn customer support through email at [email protected], on the web at http://www.athearn.com/About/Contact.aspx, or by phone at 310-763-7140.
