This Wednesday I had the pleasure of photographing the new GE Evolution Hybrid Prototype #2010 under beautiful and sunny skies.  Please take a moment and enter HYBRID into the search field above to view the photos for yourself.  Personally the locomotive looks much better under a blue sunny sky rather than many of the images we have seen of the unit with an overcast sky.  During the visit just under 400 images were made of the Hybrid locomotive along with a number of important measurements to assure the quality of this fine locomotive.

Overland Models will be producing this locomotive in HO scale brass as a seperate item or as a set along with the GECX #90 Test car painted in the matching light blue color. To see new images of the test car by itself type Test Car into the search field above.  As with the Hybrid unit several hundred image were made along with a number of measurements to assure the accuracy of our model.

Paint and and lettering will be matched with paint chips acquired to assure delivery of the models in the proper color scheme.  Kadee #58 couplers will be installed along with Digitrax DCC/ DC boards in the locomotive to control light and motor operation.

Coming in N and HO scale brass in 2008 will be the new Genset Switchers built by National Railway Equipment and operated currently by BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.  Norfolk Southern recently announced their intention to purchase two of the locomotives that are to the same design as the Union Pacific 3GS21B.

The classification 3GS21B stands for 3 Gensets/ 2100 horsepower/ B type truck

This new series of locomotives if part of the railroad industries ?eGreen?f efforts.  The NRE 3GS21B uses only donor truck sideframes which are remanufactured, then all other parts of the locomotive are completely newly fabricated pieces.  As our country moves toward cleaner air and more fuel efficient vehicles these new switchers are sure to hold an important position in railyards all around the United States. 

The HO locomotives will be produced by the craftsmen of Ajin Precision Mfg.

When the NS paint scheme and numbering decisions are announced, we will be right at the front of the line ready to transmit that information to you. We expect to deliver this project in early 2008, and given the production lead-times that are required to meet that target, we will likely be closing the reservation book more quickly than we normally would.
