The Grand River Dam Authority was created by the Oklahoma Legislature
in 1935 to be a ?conservation and reclamation district for the waters
of the Grand River.? Part of this is to provide electric power within the
district in northeastern Oklahoma. Most of GRDAʼs electric power is
generated at the Coal Fired Complex, near Choteau, Ok. on Union
Pacificʼs former Missouri Pacific line. The plant has two units rated at a
total of 1,010 megawatts, burning 4.08 million tons of Powder River coal
in 2004. This coal is hauled in a fleet of 745 Bethgons.
