Built by Electro Motive Division of General Motors on build order #30107 in June of 1965, this GP-35 loco first wore a blue and yellow paint scheme and the number 1393. It was repainted and renumbered to 3393 in the summer of 1970, and wore the blue and yellow warbonnet paint scheme. The paint scheme and new number 2893 were applied in 1984, which it wore until taking on the BNSF number in 1999.
