The Pioneer Zephyr proved immensely popular with the public, and the Burlington immediately ordered an anditional coach car built for the Zephyr. The first add-on car was #500, which ran for a very short time and was destroyed in an accident in Texas.

The second add on car, number #525 (the one Con-Cor is modeling), was built in June, 1938, and was a buffet-coach car with passenger seating for 40 and a small kitchen pantry area. This car ran for many years with the Pioneer Zephyr consist and is one usually seen in Photo's of the Zephyr.
