Kiha 201 of JR Hokkaido is a new suburban type diesel train introduced in 1997. As it is common with (10-498) Series 731 Electric Train in basic design, it can be coupled with Series 731 in operation. It is operated at present on Hakodate Main-Line and Satsunuma (Gakuentoshi) Line in the suburb of Sapporo in Hokkaido.
