These cars first appeared in the mid 60's and are still in use today. Unlike general service freight cars, auto parts box cars are assigned to pools based based on a mileage formula and often spend most of their time off home rails. In other words, 'Foreign road" cars usually outnumber home road cars in a given parts train to the point that if you missed the locomotive passing, you would have a hard time telling whose train it was!

These cars feature:

► Accurately appearing trucks and cushion draft gear enclosures.

That makes for colorful and interesting trains on your layout.

After GTW acquired Detroit Toledo & Ironton in 1983 cars like this with the GT-"the Good Track road" logo but without the name spelled out appeared, still with DTI reportig marks.
