This GP-35 A unit locomotive is painted orange and white with black and white logo, black 'Illinois Central Gulf' letters and black lettering. It was built as part of EMD order number 7670 for the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio railroad in 1964. On August 10, 1972, the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad was merged into the Illinois Central Railroad, forming the 9600-mile north/south Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. By the early 1980s locos were repainted into the new orange and white paint scheme worn by these locos.
