This GP-9 locomotive is painted black with aluminum and orange “Black Widow” paint schemes on the nose,red side and hand rails, and white lettering. It was built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) in 1956 and 1957. An EMD GP-9 is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by EMD between January 1954 and August 1963. Power was provided by an EMD 567C 16-cylinder engine which generated 1,750 horsepower. Many rebuilt GP-9s remain in service today with shortline railroads and industrial operators. Some remain in rebuilt form on some major Class I railroads, or as switcher locomotives
