The Pie Car is a 32-seat mobile railroad food-service unit with a heavy-duty kitchen operation to feed circus performers and staff. There are several versions of the genesis of the Pie Car name. One version comes from the fact that at certain times and places, an area of the car was reserved for ‘Privileged Individuals and Employees’—P.I.E. Another version refers to the meat pie boxed dinners made available to late diners. During the last show of the night the food service car was in the next town setting up for breakfast.
