Santa Fe 3800 Class 2-10-2 "Santa Fe"-type

If ever there was a "workhorse" of steam, it was the Santa Fe's 3800-Series 2-10-2s. From time freight to transfer switching to Cajon helper service, these locos were all over the Santa FE! All 141 "3800"s were Baldwin-built between 191 and 1927. All went significant upgrades through the years. Sand domes and feedwater heaters were added, tender sizes increased, some had disc main drivers and "I-beam" rods installed. Smoke deflectors were added on some and stack diameter changed on others! And let's not forget the addition of "drifting" valves! Wow, what variety!

We've elected to do a selection of extended-cab, double sand box, drifting-valve versions. I hope we've chosen a fair variety of locomotives, representing Kansas, Colorado/Raton, Texas, Tehachapi and Cajon service. We've even included that one lonely smokebox-mounted Elesco locomotive! The Division Point and Boo-Rim will offer this LIMITED EDITION project. Dual-mode decoders are included. With only 120 pieces to be produced, you are well advised to contact your dealer to reserve yours!

As usual, we are indebted to those folks who publish the information and photos we need. We urge you to buy their books and photos, and support their activities.
