This series of cabooses was built from former 40' boxcars between 1970 and 1977. In total, 548 cabooses were produced.

Some of the interesting features are:
  • Cupola extends only a couple of inches from the main car body
  • Cupola end windows are tilted inward and feature windshield wipers
  • One large fixed picture window on each body end that is tilted slightly upward to control glare each with a large single windshield wiper
  • Two large fixed picture windows on each carbody side
  • On the right side, in addition to a battery box, two additional smaller body side windows are installed
  • Red and green marker lights are on each roof end in each corner. Only the red lenses will be illuminated due to model size limitations
  • A pair of clear back-up lights is positioned on the lower end piece. These lights were typically used for reverse moves and were sometimes used at night or in foggy or snowy conditions
  • As delivered paint scheme
  • BCR modelers will recognize this caboose group as operating on CNR-BCR Unit Coal Train Service. Typically, 3-4 coal trains were on the BCR at any time in the Tumbler Subdivision with empty coal trains heading northeast and loaded trains coming from the loadouts at Teck and Quinette near the northern most point on the Tumbler subdivision. One use was with the GF6C electrics that we released last year.
