This 50’ box car with sliding door is painted blue with black ends and roof. It bears an experimental scheme of the light blue on white New York Central logo with the white NY Central script herald. The lettering is also white. The car was built in May 1957 by American Car & Foundry, serviced in September 1958, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. This car is one of two assigned to Flintkote Company service, receiving this NYC experimental scheme of black roof and ends with unique blue paint on sides and white lettering. A few months later, the NYC began painting their freight cars NYC Century Green. The “DF” on the door signifies this car offers damage-free delivery of customer cargo.
