Micro-Trains - Z Scale - Diesel - GP-9 - Rock Island # 1331 - red & yellow with white lettering - (Aug 2010) (SKU 489-98201211)

This GP-9 powered locomotive is painted red with yellow nose and rear, white logo and white road number. It was built by General Motor’s Electro-Motive Division in 1959; for the Rock Island this loco appears to be one of only two GP-9s to be repainted with this red and yellow paint scheme. The GP-9 is powered by a 567C 16-cylinder engine, generating 1,750 horsepower. Many rebuilt GP-9s remain in service today with shortline railroads and industrial operators. Some remain in rebuilt-form on some major Class I railroads, or as switcher locomotives.
