These black 50’ steel side 15-panel gondolas with fixed ends and loads have white lettering, red and yellow “ease up” signs and run on black Barber Roller Bearing trucks. They have AAR designations of GBSR. GB is defined by the AAR as “An Open Top Car, having fixed sides, fixed or drop ends and solid bottom, suitable for (steel) mill trade.” The addition of the letter ‘S’ meaning, “…cars are equipped with permanent racks for stowing parts or equipped (or modified) to permit loading of a particular commodity.” And finally the addition of the letter ‘R’ indicating, “Any gondolas equipped with removable roof or covers for protection of lading.”
