Built in late 1958, this GP-9 powered unit locomotive received it gold “hamburger” logos, gold lettering and new Pevler blue paint in 1966. Known as “Pevler Blue” for the then president of N&W Herman H. Pevler, this paint scheme only survived the life of Pevler’s term as president, and was repainted shortly after his retirement in 1970. The EMD GP-9 is a 4-axle diesel locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between January 1954 and August 1963.
