Produced by Lionel from 1935-1938 the 659 ore dump car was made of "heavy gauge steel, beautifully enameled and trimmed with nickel hand rails, hand breaks, ladders, number plates, and other details". This particular car had the ability to tilt, allowing for dumping on either and also was designed to be paired with locomotives 252E, 261E, 264E, and 265E. Today this car features a stamped steel body, mechanically operating dump, metal wheels and axels, all finished off in a colorful, attractive paint scheme with a baked enamel finish.
