This F7 A unit locomotive was built in May 1949 for Amtrak. The unit worked for Northern Pacific as NP 6502C and Burlington Northern as BN 9764 prior to Amtrak. The EMD F7 was a 1,500 horsepower (1,100kW) diesel-electric locomotive produced between February 1949 and December 1953 by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors and General Motors Diesel. A total of 2,366 cab-equipped lead A units and 1,483 cabless booster B units were built.
