This 40’ box car with single door is painted brown with the white flying ‘Rio Grande’ herald and white lettering. It was built in October 1939, serviced in December 1958, and runs on Bettendorf trucks. This car was built by Pressed Steel Car Co. in September and October of 1939 and numbered into the 68000-68399 series. Members in this series were the first of the Rio Grande’s all-steel boxcars. They were also the first to wear the flying Rio Grande” road name. Cars were rebuilt at the Burnham Shops in December of 1958.
