Since 1982, the Bombardier LRC (Light, Rapid, Comfortable) has dominated VIA Rail Canada services in the Ontario-Quebec Corridor. Although the locomotives have now been retired, VIA has recently announced a major rebuilding project that will extend the lives of the coaches and "VIA 1" cars by another 20 years.
